Plum Village is the largest Buddhist monastery in the West, founded by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh in 1982. The community practices mindfulness, compassion, and engaged Buddhism across four hamlets in the Dordogne countryside. All food served is 100% plant-based. Retreats run year-round in English, French, and Vietnamese — from family retreats and teen camps to silent sitting retreats and the summer opening (the largest annual gathering).
